Meeting with kabbalah scholar/artist - Discussion of Jewish mysticism and Art or the Jewish mystic tradition, Astrology and the Jewish calendar, following meal.

"If these stones could speak" - Local history and folklore from an expert storyteller and historian (2-3 hour tours).

Shabbat Experience in Safed - Sabbath takes on an added dimension in magical Safed with Friday dinner, Sabbath lunch or "seudah shlishit" (third meal) at the Bar-Els. We can arrange for speakers or local guests to join the group for a meal to talk about Safed's unique connection to Sabbath ("Lechah Dodi" was written in Safed) and offer a few kabbalistic insights to the holy day. After Shabbat Genine often takes groups on an evening gallery tour, followed by and a wine and cheese party and a roof-top concert back at the house for an extra-special end to the weekend. Another option to send off the Sabbath is a 'Melaveh Malkah' performed by Carlebach guitarits or an ethnic band performing with Biblical instruments (see Previous Events for anecdotes).

Inside Safed tour-Behind-the-scenes tour takes you to meet the personalities, unique individuals and enterprises that make up Safed's artistic, spiritual and ethnic mosaic. In the Artists' Colony and old Jewish Quarter we'll find veteran and new immigrant artists, craftsmen (weavers, potters) at work in their studios, a scribe, a 100-year old cheese factory, a modern-day mystic, and more.

"Erev Hasidi" - during or following meal Klezmer music, hasidic singing, dancing and storytelling performed live.

Art Workshops- Workshops by resident artists in their studios; programs for all ages & all levels of experience. Including: "Introduction to paper and print making" - creating hand-made paper & lino-stencil prints; "The Art of the Papercut;" painting on silk; hand-loom weaving. Duration: 2.5-4 hours. Fees include studio space, equipment and materials.

Candle-making Workshop- Learn how Safed's famous hand-made candles are made at the Safed Candle Factory. 30 min.

Cooking Class- Gourmet vegetarian cuisine, traditional Israeli dishes, Mediterranean dishes, the use of herbs.
